Mallow ("the app") is a food and nutrition scanner. This policy describes what the app does and does not do with your data.
Nothing personal. Mallow does not require an account, does not ask for your name, email, location, or contacts, and does not have user logins.
When you scan a barcode or photo, the app sends the barcode number or photo to our backend so it can be looked up in public food databases (Open Food Facts) and analysed. This request is transmitted over HTTPS. We do not retain personally identifying metadata.
The app requests access to your camera to read barcodes and food labels, and to your photo library if you choose to analyse an existing photo. Images are processed for analysis and are not stored on our servers.
Mallow queries the Open Food Facts public database (world.openfoodfacts.org) for product information. AI-based label analysis is performed by Anthropic. Neither service receives personal identifiers from Mallow.
Mallow does not use third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or cross-app tracking.
Mallow is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
